Hi there! I hope your day is going the best it can during these unprecedented times. Today, I wanted to write about something that wasn’t overly wedding involved to be a little sensitive to people whose wedding has been affected. All of these DIYs could also be used for another event, around your house, or even your backyard. I am always looking for ways to save money. It is these handmade crafts that not only can save you money but also give some personal touches to your special day.
With all of the extra time I have had on my hands lately, I have spent more time than I’d care to admit on Pinterest. Hopefully, I’m not the only one, haha. I could spend hours looking at the gorgeous Pinterest weddings that all of us aspire to. I want a beautiful picture-perfect wedding as much as the next girl, but I don’t want it to cost the Pinterest-perfect price tag because it certainly isn’t in my budget. Here are some of the ideas for the DIY projects I have found from Pinterest.
Photobooth / Backdrop
Starting with what will likely be the largest DIY, I want to make a photo booth that may also be something that doubles for me to walk through for a more concealed entrance. Our ceremony will be taking place in a courtyard and ideally, I don’t want my fiance to see me until I am facing him.
This DIY is super simple and rather cost-efficient from what I have designed and priced out. With the design I currently have, it only needs four 10ft long copper pipes, 4 copper L joints, 2 T joints, and 4 copper caps. Then for the curtains, I found several good options from <a href=”http://<iframe style=”width:120px;height:240px;” marginwidth=”0″ marginheight=”0″ scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ src=”//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=madisoneran-20&marketplace=amazon®ion=US&placement=B07P6H4M38&asins=B07P6H4M38&linkId=993478260e69e3a48d192be88e69c35d&show_border=false&link_opens_in_new_window=false&price_color=333333&title_color=0066C0&bg_color=FFFFFF”> Amazon and Wayfair.
A design element I have really fallen in love with it anything greenery, specifically greenery chandeliers and ceiling installations. These can actually be done on a super affordable budget by using hula hoops, which I will have a post on how to make coming soon. An idea I am currently playing around with the design of in my head is five hula hoops, all connected together in a circle. I also think it would be gorgeous to have a sixth hula hoop suspended in the middle of the five that are connected together. Below are some of the inspiration pictures.
This is a rather simple project that can make a massive statement. If you know me you know I love plants and it wouldn’t be my wedding without some greenery whether it be real or fake. If you are a fan of greenery installations like this, let me know in the comments. Or if you have tips from DIYing something similar let me know!
Super Cute, Super Simple Welcome Sign
What wedding is complete without a really cute wedding sign to say that this is where the fun begins. This is super easy to do. All you need is a piece of wood, or a piece of glass, or an old picture frame. If you don’t have any of those items laying around your place of your family place your local hardware store or a thrift store are great places to start. I can almost guarantee that you can find a large picture frame of under $10. If you like the one that is painted blue all you have to do it take the glass out of a picture frame and then paint it however you’d like.
Table numbers are such a simple detail but I feel like they can make a really big difference. We will be having a rather large wedding and to make sure we can fit everyone in the space we place to have assigned tables. Having readable but cute table numbers can help make sure guests find their seats but also look cute in pictures. I think my favorite of these two options is the frames leaves.
I am a lover of all things breakfast foods and donuts happen to be one of my favorites. The awesome things about donuts is that they can double as a dessert. Not to mention a bunch of glaze donuts is a lot cheaper than having a multi-layered cake. Personally, my fiance and I are not the biggest cake people in the world, so we are opting to have a massive dessert table display
As a lover of photography and all things “old-school,” I cannot even begin to explain how happy polaroid pictures make my heart. There is something so special about only having one chance to take a picture and not being able to edit it. Polaroid photos are real and raw and capture a moment perfectly in time. All this DIY would take is a blank scrapbook and a bunch of photo corners. As some cute colored pens are you are ready to go!
I hope these DIY’s gave you some great ideas to try out. I am fully planning on taking this extra time from social distancing to make some of these DIYs. I have made a scrapbook similar to the guestbook before, but things you make as a 12 year old are exactly cute ten years or so later.
If you decide to make any of these yourself, let me know in the comments and send them to me on instagram at madisoneran.
I hope you are staying safe and have a lovely day!
