What I Have Learned in My 2 Years of Marriage

My husband and I will be celebrating two beautiful years of marriage this week. I know that is truly so small in the grand scheme of life, but I do feel as though we have walked through and learned so much!

So, I wanted to share these lessons and words of advice with you today! I hope this may in some way bless your marriage or future marriage.

  • Be the person you want to be married to. As I have heard many times, inspiration works better than criticism.
  • Be joyful and grateful for all the stages of your marriage.
  • Marriage will never be 50:50, at its best, it’s 2 people giving 100:100. However, at other times it may be a person giving 20 and another 180 because you are a team and you have to work together for the betterment of your team/marriage.
  • Small acts can make a big difference and sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do such as doing the laundry to surprise or show love to your significant other. -words from Sam (my husband)
  • It will always be wise to put your pride aside, especially in a disagreement.
  • Always say I love and you kiss goodnight. It’s as simple as that.
  • Seriously, don’t sweat the small things, it’s not worth it (a pair of socks on the floor isn’t worth it).
  • Be physical: not gonna go too deep on this one, but who said skin to skin was just for newborns. I’m sure we’ve all heard what good a 10 second hug does. I can only imagine the a 10-minute cuddle could do. Even a simply kiss when your spouse is leaving or returning is a small, yet likely frequent, gesture to show your love for each other.
  • Communication is everything, but something’s are okay not to talk about it and are better to be prayed on before acting on.
  • Continue to date each other. It is really as simple as that. Continue to invest in your relationship and each other as you are always walking through new phases of life.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope this was beneficial for you. As always, I hope you have a happy and wholesome day!

Much love,

Madison Eran
