My Summer Morning Routine

Its summer and that means no classes, hopefully, and a lot more free time than I’m used to. My summer morning routine looks absolutely nowhere close to what my college morning routine looks like. I’m a very nosy person which is probably why I am such fan of YouTube and I enjoy watching routine videos so I figured why not tell you all what my morning routine is like.

Around 7:45 the first of my alarms start to go off. Me being the lazy bum that I am, I don’t wake up or get out of bed until my 4th alarm at 8 a.m.  The whole waking up to my first alarm thing is still something that I’m working on but it going to take a lot of work. Sometimes I even think that while I’m asleep I turn off my alarm because I don’t even have the slightest memory of waking up to turn off my alarm and mind you, I have my phone alarm which is across my bed and then my alarm clock that I keep on the other side of my room. So, I feel like there has to be some sleepwalking going on there lol.

Once I am “awake” and out of bed, I move on to a quick morning yoga session. What I do changes from morning to morning but it usually lasts for about 5 minutes but sometimes lasts up to 30 minutes. Morning yoga is my way of easing into the day and then stretching out whatever muscle is sore from the past day & night.

Afterwards, I make my way downstairs to the kitchen so I can make myself a little breakfast. My breakfast consists of either oatmeal, avocado toast, or granola all of which I usually eat with a side of fruit.

I’m kind of the maid of my house and so there are always chores that need to be done. I usually start by putting the clean dishes up so that I can put my dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I also like to take each of my dogs for a walk every morning while it is still relatively cool and so on my way upstairs to get my shoes on I take up the laundry and put on everyone’s beds.

After the laundry is put up, I move on to my favorite part of my morning and that is taking my dogs on a walk. I honestly find it therapeutic to talk them on a walk and the only sounds around me be the sound of birds chirping and the occasional car driving by.  I have to take each of my dogs separately because they are just oo much to deal with at once so I just make it easier on myself and take two trips. I enjoy the separate trips because it just gives me more time to enjoy my morning and think about what I have to get done for the day. Or just think about all of the random and irrelevant thoughts that just lead to these side tangents in my head.

Once both of my babies have had their walk for the day I will sit down and make a list of all the things I would like to get accomplished for the day and get started with the rest of my day.

I hope you all enjoyed and I just wanted to put a disclaimer out there because this will only be my morning routine for about 3 weeks out of my summer because I will be working at a camp for 3 weeks, on vacation one week, and then spend the last 2 weeks of my “summer” at mandatory training as a resident advisor.

Have a great day!

I love 10-15 minutes of morning yoga (shout out to Sarah Beth’s Energizing Morning Yoga Routine!), and if I’m really lucky, one of my kids will try it for a few minutes with me. Thanks for sharing.
