How to Handle a Busy Schedule

It is ironic that I am writing this at the moment because my life has been chaos, organized chaos, but still chaos. Now that I think about it though, this is probably the perfect time to write about this.

I am the type of person who most people would probably look at and think “what is wrong with you” once I told you what a week in my life looks like. Someone actually pinched me one time to see if I was “real” jokingly. This summer, I have volunteered at a camp for kids with chronic illnesses and mental illnesses, interned for my major, took two online classes, and attended a week long conference. I also am a resident advisor at my school and so I have spent a good amount of my free time making door decs as other things so that this next semester goes as smoothly as possible.

I always keep myself busy as it seems and after endless years of doing things, I just keep upping all the things I’m involved in. Over the years I have picked up some tips along the way and so I figured I would share them with you:

  • Have a planner
  • This is a lifesaver! I don’t know how I would be able to do anything without it if I’m being honest. It has kept me up to date with all of my assignments that are do, when I have tests, meetings, and everything else in between. If you happen to be curious what planet I use, it is the new academic Passion Planner
  • Click here if you want more details.
  • Pic credit
    • Prioritize

This is also a must, sometimes you truly just don’t have time in the day for everything you want to get done and so you have to pick what is most important. I make a list of everything that has to be done that night, the next day, and can be pushed off until a later time.

    • Stay Organized
  • If you want and need more time in the day, you don’t want to spend time chasing down something you could have found in a minute. You also don’t want to be distracted by your surroundings. Keep your place organized and it will make for a more efficient and less stressful life.
    • Give yourself some you-time

Tell me how making time for myself will help with my busy schedule? Trust me, I hear ya, I really do! But if you don’t give yourself some time to relax and unwind eventually you will be so tense that you just loose it. I’m not saying to spend hours everyday on you-time, but get yourself a coffee or go for a short walk every now and then.

I hoped this helped and I wish you the best of luck!
