In today’s post, we are talking all about how to reinvent yourself.
I recently moved several states away from my hometown which has allowed me to take a look at my life from and overarching and detached perspective. It made me realize I am not pursing my dream life. So, whether you have also recently moved, feel stuck, or have simply realized you are not where you want to be, it is time to turn the page and start a new chapter. Or a whole new book if needed.
If you are ready to start pursing the life you were meant to live and who you are meant to be – then keep reading!
What It Means to Reinvent Yourself
So, what does it meant to reinvent yourself?
It means changing characteristics of you who are and how/where your time and effort is spent to become a person that is more aligned with who you want to be and is living your dream life.
For this to be possible, you need to take the time to recognize and evaluate who you really are in this moment. This includes assessing how satisfied you are with your current self/life, your relationships, your career, your faith and every other core aspect of your life. This is point A.
To get to point B, you then must identify the areas in which you could be doing better or areas that may be holding you back. Then you need to identify what exactly is your dream life. Notice I said YOUR dream life. It only matters what you want for yourself, don’t take into account any societal norms and expectations or those of friends or family either. Identify what your dream life is and then lay out what needs to be changed to start pursing your dream life.
Important note: the need to reinvent yourself will likely arise many times throughout your life. For each of those time, there are always steps you can take and changes you can make to help identify and transition into the next version of yourself.

Steps to Reinvent Yourself
1. Ask Yourself Some Questions
The first step in reinventing yourself always begins with asking yourself, “Who do you really want to become? & What is your dream life?”
It does wonders to visualize what you want to change about yourself and your life. Then, once you have that vision, use it as motivation for why you want to change.
2. Be Honest with Yourself
Changing your life requires that you get super honest with yourself. You have to call yourself out on your current habits and choices. It can be super easy to be overly kind towards yourself and attribute your life choices to external circumstances, but this won’t get you to where and who you want to be.
This is why it is so important to recognize your decisions and take responsibility for them. Only once you accept yourself and the decision you’ve made, can you truly change.
3. Journal and Meditate
I have found over the years that keeping a journal has greatly impacted who I am as it has allowed me to stay in tune with myself and reflect on previous years. Meditating may be a more beneficial for others, but I have found journaling to be my form of active meditation.
It doesn’t matter where you journal. It could be in a physical notebook, the notes app in your phone, recording voice memos, or even using your calendar – track your thoughts!

4. Focus on Your Health
While we all should be focusing on creating good nutrition habits and developing fitness routines, this is a must in order to become a better you.
Working out on a consistent basis allows you to destress which in turn allows you feel better overall. Additionally, I find that when you drink plenty of water and are making healthier diet choices you will have much more energy to go after your goals.
5. Declutter Your Life
This can be both with physical items and non-tangible commitments. Reinventing yourself often means clearing out anything that doesn’t align with your new self.
Starting with physical items can have a great impact on your well-being. Somewhere easy to start it your closet and slowly working through all your possessions. Do you have a closet containing clothes that still have the tag on them? Or do you have cabinets and closets filled with items you never use? Now is the time to get rid of them and start breaking the habit of allowing things into your home that you don’t truly want or need.
Next comes cleaning out our calendars and commitments to only those which bring us happiness or are truly necessary to live. You may find it helpful to do a weeklong audit of how you actually spend your time. This allows you to remove that wasted hour(s) watching tv or mindlessly scrolling through social media. By cleaning out our schedule, you create time for what truly matter to you.
6. Build Your Aesthetic /Vision Board
Having an aesthetic can help you to visualize who you want to become and what your dream life may look like. Take some time to explore Pinterest and Instagram or wherever else you draw inspiration from and pull any photo, quote, or anything that you feel drawn to. Then turn this into a vision board that can either be physical or digital so long as you see it often. Like I am talking at minimum daily and preferably closer to hourly.

7. Surround Yourself with the Right People and Identify a Mentor
I am sure you have heard the say, “You are the average of the 5 people that you hang out with the most.” You need to take a close look at the people that you are spending time with.
Do these people align with your values and what you want for yourself?
If not, as difficult as it may be, you may need to cut back the time you spend with these people.
As always, thank you for reading and I hope you have a happy and wholesome day!
